Upon graduating cum laude from my Bachelor in Psychology in 2014, I completed the Research master in Psychology (magna cum laude) at KU Leuven, Belgium in 2016. With an Erasmus+ EU grant, I was able to intern at the Research Centre for Neuroscience in Education at Cambridge University, UK and partake in the Theoretical Seminars in Cognitive and Brain Sciences from the Cambridge University Graduate Programme. In 2017, I graduated from KU Leuven with a second master in Clinical Psychology (magna cum laude), with a specialisation in child & adolescent mental health.
Under the supervision of Prof. dr. Laurence Claes and Prof. dr. Koen Luyckx and financed with 4-year FWO bursal funding, I started my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at KU Leuven in 2017. Since then, I have been conducting empirical studies and longitudinal research to improve our understanding of non-suicidal self-injury in adolescents and young adults, specifically in light of its connections with identity development. In the meanwhile, I started a two-year postgraduate programme in attachment based family therapy (ABFT) and worked as a clinical psychologist in the ABFT team at the KU Leuven clinical practice centre, PraxisP.
Since 2021, I have been appointed as Assistant Professor Clinical Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. In this capacity, I continue to pursue my passion for clinically relevant research and have further developed my research lines on self-harm and identity in community and clinical populations.
